Data Governance Specialist

The approach is to implement:

A. A Data Governance practice, ensuring that data is available, clearly defined in a uniform way, and processed in an auditable way. Desired outputs are: a complete Data dictionary, Data quality standards and tooling, Source-to-platform mapping of data attributes, Data stewards established in every functional area of the company mapped on business domains.

B. The technological solution based on Microsoft Azure technology, if needed supplemented with specific technologies for specific purposes (e.g. Data Quality tooling). Desired output is a stable Data Platform that can be used for enterprise-wide data use cases, both for analytical and reporting purposes. The target ambition is to reach the state of democratizing data across the company to improve efficiency and enable business insights and decisions.

C. Data Modelling and Insight Delivery: desired outputs are an enterprise-wide data model, as well as delivery of use-cases through a limited number of datamarts, providing insights in the form of standard reports or data analytics, or providing data in a structured format into consuming systems (e.g. SalesForce).

Your main responsibilities will be:

• Maintaining oversight and evangelization of Data Governance processes and milestones, enabling data democratization across the organization, data quality and data availability
• Providing direction/steerage in terms of Data Governance methodology, interdependencies and best practices
• Providing guidance for key roles: Data Stewards, Subject Matter Experts, Data producers, Data consumers & Data Owners, sharing concrete best practices tailored to the level of maturity & extent of NN Romania
• Evaluating the maturity + proposing the evolution of Data Governance framework, including upskilling opportunities
• Providing and maintaining documentation for Data Governance procedures (e.g. business process diagrams, data taxonomy, data dictionary, business glossary, asset catalog, reports inventory, data lineage, data quality scoreboard)
• Monitoring execution of communication plan across the Data organization on DG team's objectives, need for business support and progress
• Discussing & negotiating Data Governance standards and experience, with Data Management Program central team, roll them out into NN Romania and monitor compliance / adherence to the standards
• Facilitating auditing and monitoring of Data Governance processes and proposing improvements
• Following-up security, access rights, GDPR, IT DG roles & responsibilities with IT stakeholders

Experience & Background Requirements:

• Min. 5 years working experience
• Academic studies
• Having previously worked on either establishing a data governance framework or expanding/maintaining a successfully implemented one, as an individual contributor on at least one occasion (preferably several).
• Knowledge of data governance and data management standards such as DAMA-DMBOK, DGI and supportive frameworks like CMMI.
• Strong understanding of end-to-end data production, data integration, data consumption and data management processes as well as metadata and master data management.
• Proven hands-on experience with various data governance tools or platforms such as Informatica Axon, Collibra, IBM Watson DC, Azure Purview etc.
• Advanced knowledge of SQL (DML, DDL and DCL) – understanding of data structures.
• Experience working in a cloud-based environment, having a general understanding of PaaS, SaaS, DMaaS concepts (preferably with MS Azure)
• Ability and versatility to understand, analyse and connect all sides of the business (engineering, product management, operations, etc.)
• Nice to have: familiarity with the financial services sector (insurance/pensions) and experience in working with Agile/Scrum methodologies
• Knows how to work independently, shows ownership, high level of curiosity, proactivity and adaptability
• Strong analytical and knowledge sharing skills
• Result and customer orientation attitude
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Very good English skills (written and verbally)
